Malawi reopens to the world

The Malawi Ministry of Health released a statement recently confirming that the country’s borders have now reopened to all international travellers, with remaining travel restrictions and quarantine requirements lifted.

Malawi originally closed its borders in June to everyone except Malawi residents and citizens in an effort to limit the impact of a third wave of COVID-19. Now, anyone with a negative PCR test no older than 72 hours can enter the country, with clearance from the Ministry of Health no longer needed beforehand.

In addition, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Brazil are no longer categorised as high-risk countries. Therefore, travellers from these countries will no longer be required to quarantine at designated institutions at their own expense when they land in Malawi.
